But East Finchley’s biggest appeal is no doubt its school network. Martin Primary School and Holy Trinity C of E Primary are rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. The chefs at Il Piccolo Villaggio or Genzo Greek Restaurant cook up flavours that will transport you to the Mediterranean. Check out Oasis (Moroccan and Lebanese) or Nahling (Thai) for something more exotic. There’s also a selection of gastropubs for every occasion.
The Mutton Brook flows through Northway Gardens, Fletcher Gardens and Lyttelton Playing Fields, which makes for a lovely morning or evening walk.
Enjoy live sports at Maddens Bar or watch a movie at the stunning Phoenix cinema built in 1910, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Dame Judi Dench as its patrons. It screens the latest blockbusters, independent films, dance performances and much more.
